Plans, implements, maintains and operates the hardware and software components of all the Information Systems networks including Meditech and the local and wide area networks. Installs, documents and maintains backup and recovery systems and procedures. Calculates the budget requirements for network and maintains internal and external network security. Completes other assignments based on ability or need . Participates in the department's performance improvement and continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for meeting the needs of the facility through designing, testing and implementing computer programs and computer-based information systems.
Monitors the facility's computer networks to ensure the equipment and services are functioning properly.
Demonstrates knowledge of current software systems, operation procedures and technological developments.
Designs medium to complex systems. Prepares computer programs to implement these applications.
Plans and installs the hardware and peripherals for the facility's network.
Develop capacity plans and standards for the network. Assure the integrity of the network.
Maintains, debugs and changes network devices to support enterprise applications, including LAN, WAN, and telephony.
Provides training and assistance for all systems users.
Develops and implements a maintenance system for network devices and peripherals connected to the network.
Performs feasibility studies and cost analysis of system changes; evaluates software.
Regulates access to computer files.
Provides and changes, when necessary, employee passwords. Maintains employee information.
Maintains confidentiality of all computer files.
Provides back-up and restoration of configuration files in the event of a network problem.
Coordinates information technology response efforts to unplanned outages and security issues.
Provides timely reports about the facility's network including upgrades, problems and solutions.
Develops and updates policies and procedures governing information technology systems of the facility.
Maintains a good working relationship with outside consultants and vendors.
Evaluates vendor's proposals and technology to secure needed services, hardware/software.
Demonstrates the ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations.
Maintains a good working relationship within the department and with other departments.
Consistently demonstrates a professional, self-directed approach to department responsibilities.
Assists and provides mentoring to PC End User Specialists and PC LAN Specialists.
Performs on call duty as required.
Accepts additional responsibilities as assigned.
Demonstrates the ability to deal with pressure to meet deadlines, to be accurate, and to handle constantly changing situations.
Demonstrates the ability to deal with a variety of people, deal with stressful situations, and handle conflict.
High school graduate or equivalent.
B.S. in Computer Science or related subject, or equivalent experience preferred.
Previous experience as a network administrator preferred.
Experience with large network(s) system administration preferred.
