General Duties and Responsibilities The Cardiologist physician is assigned to the Cardiology Section of Medicine Service, VA Central California Healthcare System (VACCHCS). VA provides patient centered care, delivered by engaged, collaborative teams i, an integrated environment that supports learning and continuous improvement. The Veteran's experience and health outcomes are improved with an emphasis on prevention through healing relationships i, an optimal healing environment. The full-time Cardiologist physician must have outstanding clinical and interpersonal skills as a member of the VA professional health care team, and providing continuous veteran-centered care for a variety of medical ailments. This care includes but is not limited to assessment, diagnosis, treatment, laboratory, imaging tests, and follow-up evaluations, and management of all patients with cardiac diseases according to standard, usual and acceptable or customary methods and techniques. Duties will include day-to-day care of veteran patients, both i1the inpatient and outpatient settings. Interventional Cardiologist performs and supervises invasive (including interventional) and noninvasive cardiology procedures including echocardiography, transesophageal echocardiography, cardiac catheterization, and percutaneous coronary intervention. Perform pacemaker implantation, limited structural interventions. The physician will participate in research and education/training activities. The physician must meet requirements for academic appointment with UCSF (University of California San Francisco) Fresno Medical Education Program. The incumbent will be involved in the education and training of residents, fellows, medical students, and non-physician clinical trainees, participating i1ground rounds, lectures. Administrative, direct patient care, teaching, and research are all integrated into the activities and decision processes of the staff Cardiologist physician.
